About
Vince Rountree is passionate about helping people with chronic degenerative diseases get healthy. How can he do that? Many people don’t know the impact that their food has on their health and to make matters worse, most doctors don’t know either! Doctors are experts at diagnosing illness and treating them with medication or surgery. What happens when doctors diagnose illnesses caused by food like: coronary artery disease, type 2 diabetes, and many forms of cancer, just to name a few? They medicate. They do surgery. They don’t address the cause. We are here to help you address the cause and give you the solutions; without medication, without surgery.   We created Chronic Wellness Coaching as a process to help people break life long eating habits, which is the key to better health.
The Story that Started the Company
Vince has been studying the link between food and health since 2011 when at the age of 48, he went in for his regular physical and was disappointed to learn that his cholesterol was high. His total cholesterol was 240 and his LDL (bad cholesterol) was 170. He asked his doctor how he could lower his cholesterol without medication and his response was to lose a few pounds. Unsatisfied with that answer, Vince began studying the effects of food on cholesterol. That is when he learned that Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr., President of Staff at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic, led a study in the late 80’s with patients that had severe heart disease where he treated them by putting them on a whole-food, plant-based diet. Remarkably, 100% of the patients that stuck to the diet improved dramatically! Some of the patients showed complete reversal of their disease, meaning an artery that was 90% blocked before was completely cleared afterwards!

Vince put himself on a whole-food, plant-based diet and in 6 weeks, his total cholesterol dropped from 240, down to 132 and his LDL (bad cholesterol) dropped from 170 down to 78.

These experiences led Vince down the path of using his depth of understanding of chemistry from his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Rutgers, to the pursuit of nutrition, the chemistry of food, and it’s impact on the body, our health, and our longevity. Since that time, he has earned the following:
  • Certification in Plant Based Nutrition from Cornell University
  • Certification as a Food For Life Instructor from PCRM Food for Life is an evidence-based program designed by physicians, nurses, and registered dieticians that offers cancer, diabetes, weight management, and children’s classes that focus on the lifesaving effects of healthful eating.
  • Certification in Nutritional Strategy for Coronary Artery Disease from Cleveland Clinic
He founded the company Eat Plants and Thrive, which can help you treat, prevent and reverse chronic disease using food, not medicine.

His mission: To help people get better by treating the cause.
